Gulf Coast Neurodiagnostics was founded in 2010 focusing primarily on performing mobile neurodiagnostic procedures for neurosurgeons, neurologists and pain management facilities throughout the state of Florida.
Convenient
St. Petersburg Spine and Joint Center is an extension of Gulf Coast Neurodiagnostics established when a physical location was needed in order to better serve the local population of St. Petersburg.

Dr. Shook focuses on providing pain relief to her patients without the use of medications and surgical procedures. This can be achieved through proper evaluation and testing to determine the underlying cause of the pain. Once a diagnosis is made, a treatment plan can be developed which may include various pain relief modalities, lifestyle modifications, supplementation and nutrition counseling.
Meet April Shook, the Doctor Behind St. Petersburg Spine and Joint Center
The founder of both Gulf Coast Neurodiagnostics and St. Petersburg Spine and Joint Center is Dr. April Shook. Dr. Shook graduated from the Florida State University with a degree in Human Sciences in 2005 and then went on to receive her doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2010, where she graduated salutatorian of her class.
She began post-graduate training in Electrodiagnostic Medicine during her internship and has since completed the required education and training in order to become board certified and is a diplomate under the International Board of Electrodiagnosis.
She has also completed all hours and coursework in order to become board eligible through the Institute of Functional Medicine. Additionally, she is board certified in Neurophysiologic Interoperative Monitoring.
Drew Marcello, D.C.
Dr. Marcello is with Momentum Health and brings additional expertise in chiropractic care to St Petersburg Spine and Joint Center. His mission is to provide personalized treatments that not only alleviate pain but also enhance overall well-being and restore balance to your life.
He specializes in a variety of techniques to meet your unique needs, including:

With over 17 years of experience in customer service and 13 years of dedicated work in the medical health insurance industry, Valerie brings a wealth of knowledge, reliability, and personalized care to every interaction. Her career has been defined by a strong commitment to helping individuals navigate complex systems with clarity and compassion. Valerie’s deep understanding of healthcare policies and insurance processes allows her to effectively support clients, resolve issues efficiently, and ensure they feel informed and empowered. Known for her approachable nature and attention to detail, she is passionate about providing exceptional service and building lasting relationships based on trust and transparency. Whether working with individuals, families, or providers, Valerie is driven by a simple goal: to make healthcare easier to understand and access for everyone she serves.

Gen is a Marine Corp Veteran and dedicated esthetician, who strives to provide the best care for her patients every day. She is passionate about helping others and making a positive impact in their lives. Her dedication to her career, her close-knit family, her love for the beach and her enjoyment of Coaching Youth sports all contribute to her well-rounded and fulfilling life. These aspects bring balance, joy and fulfillment and she cherishes each of them deeply.
Patient Coordinator and Compliance Officer
Mary has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare and financial industry. She worked as a Director for a large Health plan and learned the ins and outs of claims billing, benefits, and HIPAA guidelines. She is passionate about protecting our patient’s information, as well as helping them on their journey back to health. She loves interacting with our patient’s and truly believes that kindness is part of excellent customer service.
